Sociology: Asian American, Identity-making, Culture

Yang is a doctoral student in sociology at Mason. He earned his Master's degree in Sociology from The New School for Social Research.

In his master's thesis, he examined social objects, namely public toilets, in the context of urban environment, in an attempt to describe large changes in culture and cities. Currently, he is interested in understanding Asian American panethnicity and the model minority myth, with attention to how their identity-making shaped by social interaction, policy, and cultural phenomena.
