(she/her) is a sociology institutions and inequality PhD student. She completed her Master of Arts in Sociology from American University in December of 2019 where her research examined the roles of gender and age with respect to whether people interpret certain behaviors as indicating sexual consent. In 2018 she attended the  summer course entitled 'Sexuality, Society, and Culture' at the University of Amsterdam. She spent the years pursuing her Master's while simultaneously working full time at a DC law firm and still being an attentive single mom to her vivacious son Rigby, because she is the very epitome of the word "badass." Before her shift into sociology, Courtney spent over a decade working in theatre and film as an actress and producer, and is extraordinarily passionate about utilizing media as a means to inform the greater public about sociological findings. She holds a Bachelor's degree in English Secondary Education and Theatre from Towson University.
