Anand Panamthottam Cherian serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for Immigration Research (IIR), where his scholarly endeavors focus on the complexities of migration, particularly student mobility and migrant labor. Before commencing his graduate studies, Anand held the position of Research Fellow at the International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMAD) and served as a Research Associate at Centre for Development Studies (CDS) in Kerala, India. His tenure at these institutions was marked by contributions to large-scale migration studies, including the Kerala Migration Survey, which exemplifies the socio-economic and cultural intricacies of transnational mobility.

Anand's academic journey is rooted in a multidisciplinary foundation, holding a Master of Arts in Sociology from Jadavpur University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Loyola College, Chennai.His academic background and professional experience intersect with sociological and anthropological approaches, with particular attention to structural frameworks and the lived experiences of migrant communities.
