Every year, the DCSS and ASA host the ASA President-Elect's address to the DCSS. It is always an exciting event with high-level presentations and great discussions. This year, Harvard Sociology Professor and ASA President-Elect Michèle Lamont will discuss her forthcoming book, "Getting Respect: Dealing with Stigma and Discrimination in the United States, Brazil, and Israel." The reception will start at 6:30pm, and the talk begins at 7pm at ASA HQ. You will want to arrive early to get a seat. ASA Headquarters is located 1430 K Street, NW - Suite 600, right near McPherson Square and Farragut Metro stations.
Michèle Lamont is a Professor of Sociology and of African and African American Studies and the Robert I. Goldman Professor of European Studies at Harvard University. She is also the Director of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University and the Co-Director of the Successful Societies program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. http://scholar.harvard.edu/lamont
