Past Event
Saturday, October 12, 2013 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM EDT
Van Metre Hall (formerly Founders Hall)
This daylong conference will engage attendees in the evolving tradition of public sociology. Public sociology is situated on the borderlands of academia, activism, and policy, reaching beyond the audience of professional sociologists to more directly engage public discourses, political and institutional change, and social empowerment.
The keynote speaker will be Derek S. Hyra, PhD, Virginia Tech and author of The New Urban Renewal.
Registration is free for conference attendees and presenters. Coffee and boxed lunches will be provided, also free of charge. Register at: http://tinyurl.com/ohp8gux
