Open to all M.A. Anthropology graduate students. Anthropologist Brian Estes, an alumnus of our MA Program, and Prof. Jacqueline Messing will be our guest speakers. They will discuss ways that ethnographers use coding methods to make sense of their data for purposes of analysis. Brian is a Senior Researcher at Insight Policy Research, Inc. He conducts qualitative research on the efficacy of federal programs that support advances in education and nutrition. Jacqueline Messing is a linguistic anthropologist. She has worked with Nahuatl and Spanish speakers in Mexico and has done research on many aspects of socioloinguistics,. Formerly a professor at the University of South Florida, she is now in residence at Georgetown University. Our anthropology faculty will also participate in the discussion.
