It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr. Touraj Daryaee, a world-renowned historian, and one of the foremost experts on Sasanian Iran will be giving a history lecture entitled "Sasanian Iran: The Last Near Eastern Empire of Antiquity" on behalf of the Iranian Studies Group at George Mason University. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Department of History and Art History have kindly agreed to co-sponsor this event; we have attached the including all the information to this email. Dr. Daryaee (www.tourajdaryaee.com) is is the Howard C. Baskerville Professor in the History of Iran and the Persianate World and the Associate Director of the Dr. Samuel M. Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture at the University of California, Irvine. He is the editor of the Name-ye Iran-e Bastan: The International Journal of Ancient Iranian Studies and the creator of Sasanika: The Late Antique Near East Project.
