Section Information for Spring 2026

How do archaeologists know what they know? We don’t have a time machine, but we might have the next best thing! Archaeology by experiment is one way that investigators gain valuable insights into how people did things in the past. If you’re a student in ANTH 599, prepare to get your hands dirty - cooked bone, flint-chipping, dirt digging kind of dirty! Learn about a dynamic field that connects theoretical concepts with practical experimentation. Through reconstructing and testing ancient methods and technologies, experimental archaeology serves as a vital bridge between theory and practice.
