Section Information for Spring 2026

This course will compare political structures and access to power in a variety of cultural contexts. It will also address issues of stratification, marginalization, and the importance of aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, gender, nationality and other factors in peoples’ creation of political structures and access to power. Political disagreement and even violence will be a particular focus of this course as the above factors will be used to understand political conflict, and in some cases the resolution of such conflict.
