Archaeology is the study of the human past through the analysis of material culture and its context. This course serves as an introduction to the discipline of archaeology. This semester, you will learn about the methods and types of objects used by archaeologists to reconstruct different aspects of human prehistory, including past environments, diet, technology, and social structures. We will also discuss the important impacts that archaeology can have on the modern world and how to critically assess claims about the past.
