In this course, we identify and examine structures of social inequality and their implications for people and communities around us, across the United States, and globally. We will explore issues of race and ethnicity, language and immigration status, sex and gender, social class, age, and sexual orientation. We will encounter key sociological concepts and frameworks and understand social hierarchies and study how inequality is reproduced.


This course fulfills Mason Core Exploration Requirements in Social and Behavioral Sciences.
