SOCI PhD wins Public Sociology Award

Sociology PhD student Marisa Allison has won the Robert Dentler Award for Outstanding Student Achievement from the American Sociological Association's Section on Sociological Practice and Public Sociology. The award committee wrote:

The award committee and Section Council were extremely impressed by the quality of your study on the part time and contingent faculty at George Mason University, as well as the dissemination of your results and the impact that the research is having on the larger issue of contingent faculty in higher education.

She will receive the award at the American Sociological Association (ASA) meetings in Chicago on Saturday, August 22nd. She will also receive a $500 award to help cover her expenses to attend the ASA meetings.
