Sociology professor Shannon Davis has been recognized for her many great achievements! This year, Mason recognized Davis as a "Teacher of Distinction," teachers "who are recognized across campus for their exceptional teaching and their commitment to teaching-related activities." Davis was also one of five recipients of the 2012 OSCAR Mentor Award for "excellence in mentoring undergraduate students on their research and creative projects, and by fostering a culture of student scholarship at Mason." The American Sociological Association awarded her a Fund for the Advancement of Sociology (FAD) grant for her project "Gender and Career Prioritization after the Recession Research." She has also been working on integrating sociological training into the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), as a member of the MCAT Behavioral and Social Science Subcommittee. In ASA's Footnotes newsletter, Davis talked about this work. In addition to all of this, she was promoted to Associate Professor. Congratulations! Thank you, Professor Davis, for all that you do!
Many congratulations to Professor Davis!
