A recent article published in the Chronicle of Higher Education delves into the effects of how one scientist’s failure to turn in required final reports for their grants resulted in delays and withholding awards for an entire University. Most final reports are required to be submitted within 90-120 days of the project end date and Federal sponsors are increasingly enforcing policies on delinquent awards.  The federal government posts a spreadsheet of grants, naming institutions that have not fulfilled the requirements, which is watched by federal agencies.
