PhD candidate Jason Smith publishes paper on racialized news coverage and media spectacle

Jason Smith, PhD candidate in sociology, has published a chapter titled,"Learning from a 'Teachable Moment': The Henry Louis Gates Arrest as Media Spectacle and Theorizing Colorblind Racism." The chapter is part of a volume sponsored by the Communication, Information Technologies, and Media Sociology (CITAMS) section of the American Sociological Association.
