On Monday, December 4th, at 5:00 pm, Robert Matz and Jason Smith will be inducted into the Well Library in the Mason Club.

Robert Matz (pictured) is a professor of English and interim dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He has published essays on Shakespeare and on Renaissance poetry and poetic theory, as well as two books, Defending Literature in Early Modern England: Renaissance Literary Theory in Social Context (Cambridge UP, 2000) and The World of Shakespeare's Sonnets: An Introduction (McFarland, 2008), which was selected as a 2008 Choice Outstanding Academic Title.

Jason Smith is a student in the PhD program in sociology, and is the research associate for that program. He is also the co-editor of Race and Contention in Twenty-first Century U.S. Media.

The Well Library houses the research, scholarship and creative works of Mason's faculty, staff, and alumni that are contained within the books they have published. It operated as part of the of the Mason Inn, on Mason's Fairfax Campus from 2010-2013, and has moved to the Mason Club this semester as a project of Fall for the Book and the Mason Club management.

The Mason Club is located just off Patriot Circle, near the Rappahannock deck. It is located adjacent to the Hampton Roads student housing, and offers a space for university faculty, staff, alumni, and retirees to gather, collaborate, and dine.

A round of three more events will be held during spring semester. They will offer complimentary food, and a cash bar will be available.
