Student Union I, Room 3B (Room 3332)

The SOAN faculty and graduate students invite you to a discussion of a fascinating new article by sociologist Loïc Wacquant, "Three Steps to a Historical Anthropology of Actually Existing Neoliberalism." The paper is the topic of a forthcoming debate in the journal SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY. Loïc Wacquant is a student and collaborator of the late Pierre Bourdieu who works on urban inequality and marginality, the penal state, ethnoracial domination, embodiment, and social theory and the politics of reason. The discussion is open to all faculty, students, and interested others. The article for discussion can be found here. Loïc Wacquant has also sent an interview about workfare and a further discussion of neoliberalism.
