Statistical information is widely available and used to promote a broad range of political and social interests. This course introduces the use of statistics and data analysis for the social and behavioral sciences. Its goal is to help you develop statistical literacy and quantitative reasoning. We cover both descriptive and inferential statistics, including techniques like regression analysis. You will learn to use and apply different statistical techniques as well as evaluate their merit, a condition for ethical, inquirybased citizenship. In the process, you will become competent in the use of a statistical software package—a highly marketable skill.
