Fostering Civic Engagement: The Social and Political Dimensions of Race

The Public Sociology Association (PSA) invite the students, faculty, and staff to join us for the final events in our Public Sociology Speaker Series.  Sociologist and author Bhoomi K. Thakore will contribute to our discussion of cvic engagement and race with an evening presentation.  While she is on-campus, she will also be co-facilitating an afternoon workshop on publishing strategies that may be of interest to your graduate students.

Bhoomi K. Thakore, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Elmhurst College and author of South Asians on the U.S. Screen: Just Like Everyone Else?, explores how the portrayal of race in popular cultural mediums may influence our understanding of and engagement with one another.
