Patricia Hill Collins’ Intersectionality, co-authored with Sirma Birge, provides insight on the idea of intersectional knowledge. It explores how social inequalities in race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, and ethnicity shape one another. Collins was the 100th president of the American Sociological Association Council and the first African-American woman to hold this position.
