Statistical information is widely available and used to promote a broad range of political and social interests. This course introduces the use of statistics and data analysis for social and behavioral science. Its goal is to help you develop statistical literacy and quantitative reasoning. We cover both descriptive and inferential statistics, including techniques like regression analysis. You will learn to use and apply different statistical techniques as well as evaluate their merit, a condition for ethical, inquiry-based citizenship. In the process, you will become competent in the use of a statistical software package—a highly marketable skill. This course fulfills the Mason Core Requirement for Quantitative Reasoning.
